Final preparations are now in full swing to celebrate this year’s very special milestone – Her Majesty the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

Her Majesty Elizabeth II has become the first monarch to ever celebrate a Platinum Jubilee this year – an incredible 70 years of service to the United Kingdom, the Realms and the Commonwealth.

There has been an overwhelming amount of interest in visiting London this year as a direct result and many of the events and celebrations taking place will culminate in a 4 day weekend at the start of June. Here are the confirmed highlights at the start of June period in what is sure to be a spectacular start to the Summer in London:

Thursday 2nd June

The Queen’s Birthday Parade (Trooping the Colour)

Starting at Buckingham Palace, the parade will go by the Mall to Horse Guards Parade, where more than 1,400 soldiers, 200 horses and 400 musicians will celebate The Queen’s official birthday. The Parade will finish with a spectacular fly-past of the Royal Air Force, watched by The Queen and Members of the Royal Family from the famous balcony at Buckingham Palace.

Friday 3rd June

Service of Thanksgiving

Her Majesty will attend a special service of thanksgiving to celebrate the 70 years of Her reign at St Paul’s Cathedral in central London.

Saturday 4th June

The Derby at Epsom Downs

Accompanied by members of the Royal Family, Her Majesty will attend the horse racing derby at Epsom Downs.

Platinum Party at the Palace

The BBC will host a special live concert from Buckingham Palace to celebrate Her Majesty’s special occasion. The spectacular show will bring together some of the world’s biggest musician and entertainment stars to celebrate each decade of Her Majesty’s 70 year reign.

Sunday 5th June

The Big Jubilee Lunch

The Big Lunch was an event started over a decade ago to encourage communities to come together to celebrate their connections and get to know each other more in a spirit of fun and friendship. In 2022 The Big Lunch will bring the Jubilee celebrations into the heart of every community.

Yes, it has been officially confirmed that Sir Elton John will be playing his final tour in London’s Hyde Park on June 2022.

With its area of 142 hectares, Hyde Park is the largest of the London Royal parks, best known for its famous “speakers corner” and where you can also find many wonderful sights, including the statue to “the boy that never grew up” and even a Royal pet cemetery.

St Martins in the fields, Trafalgar Square: Annual Christmas Carol Service

St. Martin’s in the fields is located in Trafalgar Square next to the National Art Gallery (the nearest underground station is Charing Cross/ Leicester Square Station)

Christmas is the most important time for concerts at St Martin-in-the-Fields and this season features a packed programme of festive favourites; make sure not to miss the annual candle light concert, free for all!

The Royal Albert Hall: Annual Christmas Shows

The Royal Albert Hall is located to the south of Hyde Park in London (Kensington Gore, London SW7 2AP, the nearest underground station is South Kensington).

London's West End

The West End is a flexible term used by Londoners to describe the entertainment district in central London, notably the streets surrounding Leicester Square, Covent Garden and the shopping districts of Regent Street, Oxford Street and Bond Street, along with the bright lights of Piccadilly Circus.

Widely covered on a Private London Tour, The West End is however much more than just shopping and restaurants. It is also used to mean the capital’s theatreland!

The Mousetrap - The World's Longest Running Show

One of the more famous venues is Her Majesty’s Theatre located on Haymarket. It is the original home to Andrew Lloyd Webber’s The Phantom of the Opera and is unique in the sense that its name changes with the gender of the monarch – it was known as His Majesty’s Theatre from 1901 to 1952, and became Her Majesty’s on the accession of Queen Elizabeth II.
